Welcome to wherever you are....

"Maybe we're different, but we're still the same
We all got the blood of Eden, running through our veins
I know sometimes it's hard for you to see
You come between just who you are and who you wanna be
If you feel alone, and lost and need a friend
Remember every new beginning, is some beginning's end

Welcome to wherever you are
This is your life, you made it this far
Welcome, you gotta believe
That right here right now, you're exactly where you're supposed to be
Welcome, to wherever you are"
- Bon Jovi

It's been a while since I thought about high school. Someone jogged my memory today. It's been almost 25 years since we graduated. 25 years - it doesn't seem possible! It still seems like yesterday. I wonder if it always will.... 25 years - am I exactly where I'm supposed to be????

Sunday Night Slowdown

Sunday nights are sooooo hard. The dread of the work week coming is enough to make me drink - so I do! I highly recommend Mike's Hard Lime - absolutely smooth and light for a hot summer night! Anyway, been working hard on my current concept using the scanned weeds that I gathered on Friday night (no poison ivy this time around). I haven't left the apartment except for the extreme necessities. I'm not ready to share any more yet on that project but will soon have a beautiful completed handbag to show for all the hours spent in front of my computer and sewing machine.

I've managed to watch the same movie 5 times this weekend. My favorite movie - I could watch it continuously. There is such a magic between these two actors, soulmates til the end. Funny how before you know it, years have gone by and all plans and ideas you had for your future have faded; never the right time, never the right place, never the right guy. A few more Mike's and a lot of art can come out of this night!

"A soulmate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we're pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we're safe in our own paradise. Our soulmate is someone who shares our deepest longings, our sense of direction. When we're two balloons, and together our direction is up, chances are we've found the right person. Our soulmate is the one who makes life come to life. - Richard Bach

Poison Ivy....

As soon as 5:30 hits on Friday, I'm off and running with a million ideas and can't wait to get home and start playing. First stop tonight was an abandoned parking lot that was overgrown with weeds and wildflowers. I've been eyeing this lot for a few days and all I could think about was getting my scissors and cutting pieces to take home and scan into Photoshop Elements. Second stop was Dunkin Donuts for an ice coffee that will keep me energized until way after midnight leaving me lots of time to experiment with my new found images. In all my excitement, I started choosing and cutting weeds and grasses without once thinking of the poison ivy that was growing right along side. Sorry Dad.... everything you taught me about identifying the bad leaves went completely out the window tonight. I couldn't see the ivy for the weeds I was so excited to get to work on. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get another chance to be more careful in the future.

Happy Friday y'all! I hope your weekend is as creative as I plan for mine to be! Happy creating!

Just because you have sisters doesn't mean you are close to them. I have been blessed to have two sisters who are two of the most important things in my life. To watch them grow, experience love, children, careers and many other successes is a part of my journey. The journey we have taken together through our childhood has enforced those bonds and brought us closer together. These strong bonds continue to need nurturing but will always keep us tied to one another.

"To the outside world we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other's hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time."

Hydrangea Buds

What could be more beautiful than a hydrangea bloom just opening its petals. You can almost see it in action with this photo because of all the different stages the buds are in.
Yesterday, I drove around my town taking pictures of amazing flowers so I could play with the images in Photoshop Elements and incorporate them into my artwork. I will probably leave behind the previous picture I posted and come back to that later. These real life images are holding my attention for now and I will see just how far I can experiment with them.
