Studio Sunday and Holiday Ornaments Preview and Upcoming Free Giveaway!

After my week in corporate America, I desperately needed to get refreshed and inspired this weekend.  I don't have any videos to share today but I am working on one for next week on creating holiday ornament designs using the Medallion Master Template stencils.  Wait until you see what I do with these!!!!

I was also able to put my design hat on to start working on NEW Medallion Master Template stencils.  I definitely want to create some smaller scale designs and I've got some other ideas up my sleeve so we will see how that goes.
Wouldn't it be great to wrap your gifts this year using your own holiday wrapping paper made with your own designs?  More details will follow next weekend on the Free Giveaway!
Have a wonderful weekend and keep on creating!!!

Studio Sunday and Mixed Media Medallions

Welcome to Sunday once again!  The days are really going by quick and I can't believe we are more than halfway through September!  Cooler temps are rolling in this week and I can't wait!  I'm ready for fall and pumpkins and lots of leaves on the ground even though I know it will mean that the trees will be bare not too long after.  I want time to stop so I can be stuck in my favorite season.

I have a great video for you today!  I'm mixing it up this time around by layering deli paper, stenciling and stamping on top of a medallion I created using my Medallion Master Template stencils.  This is a great technique for those who aren't as excited about doodling or tangling but who love texture and layering!  Get ready to add more to your designs!

This version was made using warm colors and gold metallic paint and the purple one below was created using cool tones, silver metallic paint.  The secret to this process is creating on-the-fly foam stamps unique to each design you make as they are defined by the shapes and spaces that emerge as you build out your medallion design.
Check out the Mixed Media Medallion video below:
Torn deli paper previously painted with acrylic paint adds to the texture on the inner petals.  Stamping and stenciling allows you to build more texture on top of each specific shape you create a stamp from!

Below, you can see the 3 stamps I created from this single design.  Watch the video to see how I applied them!

Last week Barbara at had shared with me a photo of an incredible medallion created using the Medallion Master Template stencils by Virginia England.  With Virginia's permission, I am sharing these incredible designs that she created on cardboard shipping boxes.  Virginia's passion is card making and let me tell you, she is incredible at it!  I have included a photo of a card she made that is filled with color, texture and dimensional layers!

Thanks again, Virginia, for inspiring me with your designs!!!

Studio Sunday Medallion Master New Stencils and Free Giveaway September 9th

I'm getting a very late start this afternoon!  So much to do and so little time.  I'm reading videos for this week's release of my new Medallion Master Template stencils and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will be a big hit!  I have had a ton of fun creating medallions and of course scouring Pinterest for ideas on filling the designs, which has been a challenge for me.

So don't forget to check out my blog here for the release on Wednesday, September 9th along with a FREE GIVEAWAY!!!

I've seen signs of fall!  Little red tipped leaves on my commute down Rt. 128/95 in the mornings and that means that soon the highway will be flanked by beautiful autumn colors and hopefully cooler temperatures.  I can't complain this weekend as so far it has been beautiful and cooler especially at night.  Thinking about fall always makes me think of "Back to School" which I no longer have to participate in LOL but the whole clothes shopping bug hits me.  Fall clothes are always a favorite of mine as I've always been a girl of autumn, loving the crisp air and foliage.  Now, if I could only find the time to whip up a few shirts for underneath my suit jackets, I'd be a happy camper!

I've got some great knits that I want to get sewn as long sleeve tops for under my black and grey jackets which makes it really easy to not spend time thinking about what to wear at 6:30 in the morning.  Joann Fabrics is currently having a 40% off sale on their knits so check them out!
I'm getting ready to do some stenciling and collage onto heavy duty manila file folders from Staples as I saw some great ones that Barbara at had made.  I've layered gesso and then some Tim Holtz Distress Paints randomly over the dry gesso and I'm just determining which designs and how much I want to use on them.  There might even be some medallions in the mix!

One of my favorite colors is Hickory Smoke which is a grey taupe and looks kind of like mushroom.  I love it as a neutral and want to mix that up with white and black on something.  I paired this with Stormy Sky, Dusty Concord and Crushed Olive.

Abandoned Coral is also one of my favorite colors from that line and you can see how it pops in between the mix of Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade and Crushed Olive.

So many choices!!!!  I'm definitely taking advantage of this long weekend to get things done.  We are moving into a busy time at work and I'll be mentally exhausted when I get home from work so I have to maximize my weekends!!
Don't forget to check back on Wednesday and I hope you have a wonderful long and creative weekend!
