Cultivate Art Collective's Sea Art Blog Hop!

Hello and welcome to the Cultivate Art Collective's Sea Art Blog Hop!!  Our Blog Hop is a collaboration of 10 diverse artists from the Collective who will be exhibiting together at SURTEX on May 18-20, 2014.  For our very first Blog Hop we chose a "Sea" theme to be interpreted, re-imagined and beautifully designed by each artist to showcase their unique vision and creative talents.

After you have checked out my "Sea" themed art, please keep the Blog Hop hopping and scroll down to the bottom of the post to find links to the other 9 fabulous artists!!!
I have to say that researching barnacles was not exactly how I planned on beginning my "Sea" themed designs.  I found out a lot about barnacles (shown above) and viewed so many amazing underwater photos. Gooseneck barnacles are both beautiful and creepy at the same time as they seem like clam shells attached to very long worms.  The Titan Acorn barnacle is a a giant sized rock barnacle laced with the most beautiful pink color.  When viewed up close, barnacles present amazing texture and pattern that is sure to inspire.

Illustration doesn't excite me as much as digital play and manipulation so I pulled together a few pattern designs carrying on with the "Sea" theme.  This is much more within my comfort zone and I love to build out texture and patterns this way.

Make sure to check out the rest of the "Sea" themed artwork by the 9 other amazing artists who I will be exhibiting at SURTEX with Cultivate Art Collective!

Hi Margaret - I found you through Aileen Tu and hopped on over - your design composition is lovely with the different types of barnacles.
