Studio Sunday

We've got lots going on in the studio this Sunday with guest designers, Erika, Melanie, and Noelle. A little fabric painting, quilting, and charm bracelet jewelry making, we've been super busy! We have filled our bellies with chocolate chip, blueberry, and quinoa pancakes along with fresh strawberries, and we are good to go!

I will be creating a little later on (if there is any time left in the day.) Have a wonderful day!

It's Here! It's Here! The new Quilting Arts Magazine!!!!

The newest issue of Quilting Arts Magazine is here - Including ME! Pages 24-28! I am sooooooo excited!!! I can't thank the Quilting Arts staff enough for all of their great work! They are down-to-earth, real people and, along with Pokey, have made the magazine what it is today. I want to send special thanks to Helen Gregory for returning my artwork safe and sound. Of course, I am further elated to be included in an issue with amazing artists like Jane LaFazio, Laura Wasilowski and more!!! I'm already formulating my ideas for the new Reader Challenge, "Tag, Your're It!" Can't wait!!!!

Studio Sunday

Not much creativity going on today in the studio. It was much more of a reorganization day and a little spring cleaning. I'm all for turning the clocks ahead to gain that extra daylight but I think losing that hour is going to really hurt tomorrow morning.

I've kind of been stuck in a slump this weekend because I've been distracted by what has happened in Japan. My company has an office in Tokyo and it kind of brought me closer to what was has been going on. I'm sure we will get updates tomorrow from our contacts there but I am so blown away by the devastation. It's great that we are globally connected through technology and amazing all the footage that has been captured while the worst is happening but it makes it that much more real and you can't help but hurt for these people and their families. It's so sad.....

On a lighter note, I picked up all of my pieces that have been photographed for the Quilting Arts Magazine and special publication, 101 Patchwork Projects! It is so good to have all of them back. I'm going to have to get a move on and get my Etsy store up and running because you never know who might be interested!!! I hate to rush time, but I can't wait until both publications are out!!!

I have played a little digitally this week but haven't formed any new ideas from it. What is important is that I am revisiting the hundreds of images that I have collected from artwork I started making in 2008 and looking at them in a new light, fusing them with current images and seeing what happens with the mix. Here is a couple of shots of a leftover print of the outline of an orchid auditioned on top of a couple of unfinished journal pages. Light and unstructured...

Back in town

Well, studio Sunday escaped me today but I did a lot of hand stitching on the road. It was a good break away from the sewing machine and computer and back-to-basics embellishment. Here are two little digital collages on fabric with screen-printed flowers and hand stitching. They are small experimental pieces approximately 4" x 11" (they print out nicely on one sheet 8 1/2 x 11).

Just before taking off on our weekend roadtrip to PA, I managed to add a little bit to this digital monoprinted piece which definitely helped define the forefront and depth of the image. I didn't realize just how flat the image had become until I added the additional fabric pieces. I'm not sure if there is anything more I can add to this but I will sneak a peak at it to see if calls to me. This week I hope to get to the blue/green digital monoprints to start developing those.

Spring rains are moving through and the temps are mild here. It will be good to see the Robins searching for worms since most of the snow has washed away and the grass is exposed. Think spring!!!!
